# Virals: Vladimir Coufal withdraws from Czech Republic squad

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/05/noel-whelan-believes-declan-rice-knows-hes-leaving-west-ham/) defender [Vladimir Coufal](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/05/paul-robinson-unimpressed-with-uncharacteristic-vladimir-coufal-display/) has withdrawn from the Czech Republic squad to concentrate on returning to full fitness.

The 29-year-old missed the Hammers’ [victory over Rapid Wien](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58741636) in the Europa League last week with a groin problem before returning to action in the Premier League.

Coufal received [criticism](https://www.footballinsider247.com/coufal-slammed-by-pundit-after-new-details-emerge-on-his-dreadful-west-ham-display/) for his display against Brentford and it has since emerged that the former Slavia Prague ace might not have been at full fitness.

The news was confirmed by the [club’s official website](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/october/05-october/vladimir-coufal-miss-world-cup-qualifiers) and cited by [West Ham News & Views](https://twitter.com/WestHamViews_) on Twitter.

David Moyes faces a trip to a former employer when domestic action begins after the break as the [Irons face Everton](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results) at Goodison Park.

So far this season the [24-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vladimir-coufal/nationalmannschaft/spieler/157672/verein_id/3445) ace has earned a [6.99 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/vladimir-coufal/138024) from seven league outings.

Coufal will miss [Group E World Cup qualifiers](https://www.uefa.com/european-qualifiers/standings/) against Wales and Belarus.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

This will be music to the ears of the Hammers faithful, especially with fellow right-back Ryan Fredericks also [struggling](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/september/24-september/team-news-david-moyes-issues-ryan-fredericks-update).

Fans often fear for their players [picking up injuries whilst away](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56640577) on international duty, so a star opting up pull out due to a knock comes as sweet relief.

Meanwhile, West Ham have been handed a further boost as talismanic forward Michail Antonio has also [made himself unavailable](https://jamaica-gleaner.com/article/sports/20211005/antonio-makes-himself-unavailable-world-cup-qualifiers) for international duty for Jamaica due to ‘logistical and travel difficulties’.
