# Virals: Juventus prepared to sell West Ham target Weston McKennie

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/06/virals-west-ham-among-several-suitors-for-spanish-defender-dani-vivian/) look to have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Juventus midfielder [Weston McKennie](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/30/alan-hutton-claims-west-ham-are-preparing-for-life-after-declan-rice/).

Heavily [linked](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-open-talks-to-sign-mckennie/) with a move for the USA international in recent weeks, the Hammers face competition from London rivals Tottenham for the ace’s signature.

Now a report from Italian outlet [Tuttosport](https://mobile.twitter.com/tuttosport/status/1445320363328561154?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1445320363328561154%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-9314575701969558297.ampproject.net%2F2109102127000%2Fframe.html), as translated by [TRANSFERmarketWEB](https://www.transfermarketweb.com/serie-a/serie-a-juve-ready-to-sell-usmnt-star-mckennie-223132) and cited by [Football Talks & Updates](https://twitter.com/ftuReloaded) on Twitter, has claimed the Serie A giants are willing to sell the 23-year-old.

> Juventus are prepared to part with 23-year-old American midfielder Weston McKennie, who is wanted by Tottenham and West Ham.\
> \
> Ajax and Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana, 25, is ready to join Inter Milan as a free agent in 2022.

The report claims that Juventus could part with the [25-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/weston-mckennie/nationalmannschaft/spieler/332697/verein_id/3505) ace as soon as the upcoming January transfer window.

Hailed as [‘outstanding’](https://schalke04.de/en/champions-league-en/nothing-praise-match-winner/) by former Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel, McKennie has scored [six times and provided three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/weston-mckennie/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/332697) in 53 appearances for the Old Lady.

This season the American is yet to directly contribute towards a goal in [seven outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/weston-mckennie/leistungsdaten/spieler/332697) across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Ongoing links to a move for McKennie cast doubts of the continued future of at least one of the [existing](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) central midfielders.

Albeit club legend Mark Noble is [set to retire](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/players/mark-noble-west-ham-nhs-20676867) at the end of the season, continued speculation suggesting a big-money addition is forthcoming does raise certain questions.

Both Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek would be highly sought after properties, whilst Alex Kral is [yet to be given the opportunity](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-kral/leistungsdaten/spieler/337333) to earn that end of season option to buy.

Furthermore, talented youngster Conor Coventry has been [sent to Peterborough United](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/august/31-august/conor-coventry-joins-peterborough-united-season-long-loan) on loan with a view to returning to compete for a senior role at the London Stadium.

Valued at £22.5million and under contract until 2025 in Turin ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/weston-mckennie/marktwertverlauf/spieler/332697)), it seems almost unfathomable that the club would sanction this move with all the options still in situ.
