# Tony Gale praises ‘smashing’ Jarrod Bowen strike against Brentford

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/02/mark-lawrenson-predicts-west-ham-victory-over-brentford/) forward [Jarrod Bowen](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/24/don-hutchinson-hails-west-ham-forward-jarrod-bowen-on-twitter/) found the net in a losing effort from David Moyes’ side.

The Hammers fell to a late defeat at the London Stadium as a [94th-minute strike](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/october/03-october/goals-west-ham-united-1-2-brentford) from Yoane Wissa handed Brentford all three points.

That defeat means the Irons head into the international break placed [ninth in the league](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) and well placed to mount another European push.

Despite the disappointing loss, former West Ham defender turned pundit Tony Gale was full of praise for Bowen’s strike on the [Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/match/59010) world feed.

> That’s a smashing half volley by Bowen. The keeper didn’t even have a chance to move. He’s finally got his goal.

All that had been missing from the Englishman’s [recent displays](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jarrod-bowen/552884) was that all-important goal.

So far this season Bowen has now [scored once and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/leistungsdaten/spieler/314875) for teammates in 10 appearances across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Bowen has been in [scintillating form](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322596/Show/Jarrod-Bowen) this term, without the goal contributions to show for it.

Adding more [moments of quality](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/314875) like this to a well-rounded game is an important factor to take the ace’s game to the next level.

A goal [worthy of at least](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/october/03-october/goals-west-ham-united-1-2-brentford) a point in any game, West Ham and Bowen, in particular, will be disspirited to fall to a late defeat.
