# Danny Mills tips Declan Rice to make ‘absolutely huge’ transfer switch

Former Premier League defender Danny Mills has tipped [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/04/virals-brentford-join-west-ham-in-pursuit-of-12m-valued-keane-lewis-potter/) star [Declan Rice](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/04/virals-brentford-join-west-ham-in-pursuit-of-12m-valued-keane-lewis-potter/) to make an ‘absolutely huge’ transfer.

The 22-year-old midfielder has long since been a [target for the top teams](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9987649/Chelsea-warned-bid-100m-land-West-Hams-England-midfield-star-Declan-Rice-summer.html) in the Premier League following a superb emergence in recent years.

Rice has once again been in fine form this season and further [transfer speculation](https://talksport.com/football/955235/west-ham-declan-rice-chelsea-man-utd-transfer-news/) is almost destined to follow.

> These players have stayed loyal for so long. But, at some point, when you’re talking about doubling their wages, possibly even more, challenging for league titles, challenging for trophies, playing in the Champions League it’s huge, absolutely huge. Why wouldn’t you start looking at those sorts of things? You only have a certain life span as a footballer. You get to the point where you think ‘It’s now or never’ and if you don’t take that opportunity it may never come around again.

The [26 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/nationalmannschaft/spieler/357662/verein_id/3299) England man has earned a [7.29 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/declan-rice/856714) in seven Premier League outings this term.

Seemingly operating in a more advanced role from midfield, Rice has also [scored twice and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/leistungsdaten/spieler/357662) in nine appearances across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

There can be few members of the Hammers’ faithful that would begrudge Rice’s pursuit of his [ambitions](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/transfer-news/chelsea-transfer-news-declan-rice-19344046).

Despite a disappointing defeat at the hands of Brentford, West Ham are [fighting on all four fronts](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) this season and could yet reach the Englishman’s dreams.

Valued at £63million and under contract at the London Stadium until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/marktwertverlauf/spieler/357662)), the club must ensure whatever happens that the maximum possible fee is obtained.
