# Ray Parlour tips West Ham for stunning Edinson Cavani swoop

Former Premier League midfielder Ray Parlour has suggested [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/01/jason-cundy-full-of-praise-for-fearless-west-ham-side/) could make a sensational move for Edinson Cavani in January.

Despite making a strong start to the new season, the Hammers are still in need of an additional striker to supplement the in-form [Michail Antonio](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/01/lucy-ward-says-west-ham-striker-michail-antonio-has-all-the-attributes/).

By stark contrast, Manchester United have a [wealth of attacking options](https://www.manutd.com/en/players-and-staff/first-team) and Cavani has found himself down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Speaking on [talkSPORT Breakfast](https://talksport.com/radio/schedule/) \[01/10/21\], Parlour mooted the idea of the Irons move for the 34-year-old during the mid-season window.

> If he did move on in January, Cavani, and said ‘I’m not happy, I want to play football’, would West Ham come in for Cavani? Wages won’t be a problem for West Ham. The problem is then, \[Michail\] Antonio wants to play every week, do you play two up front and change your tactics? Because Cavani is not going to West Ham to sit on the bench.

Capped a remarkable [123 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/edinson-cavani/nationalmannschaft/spieler/48280/verein_id/3449) by Uruguay, Cavani has been a prolific goalscorer throughout a [distinguished](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/edinson-cavani/erfolge/spieler/48280) career.

However, this season the man hailed as [‘remarkable’](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9978103/Ole-Gunnar-Solskjaer-praises-Edinson-Cavani-handing-iconic-No-7-shirt-Cristiano-Ronaldo.html?ns_mchannel=rss&ito=1490&ns_campaign=1490) by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has only managed [three fleeting appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/edinson-cavani/leistungsdaten/spieler/48280) from the bench.

Signing a centre-forward in January could still prove pivotal if David Moyes’ side are going to fulfil all their [early-season promise](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results).

Just how little of a problem [Cavani’s wages](https://www.sportbible.com/football/news-man-united-wages-revealed-with-cavani-agreeing-a-two-year-deal-20201003) would be is another matter altogether.

Tipped to [head back to South America](https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20210614-cavani-tempted-by-south-american-return-after-united) following his Manchester United stint, perhaps a six-month loan deal to the London Stadium would be the perfect sign off.
