# Virals: West Ham reportedly ‘open talks’ to sign Weston McKennie

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/28/don-hutchinson-claims-west-ham-are-now-acting-like-a-big-club/) have reportedly set about attempting to sign Juventus midfielder [Weston McKennie](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/27/virals-west-ham-named-as-bidder-for-juventus-ace-weston-mckennie/).

The 23-year-old was [linked](https://sportwitness.co.uk/club-received-interesting-offers-everton-aston-villa-west-ham-transfer-now-approaching-player/) with a switch to the Hammers in the summer but any move failed to materialise.

Since then the USA international has made a strong start to life in [Serie A](https://www.skysports.com/serie-a-table) whilst David Moyes signed midfielder reinforcements in the shape of Alex Kral.

According to a report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-open-talks-to-sign-mckennie/), as cited by [RumorsTransfersNews24/7](https://twitter.com/rumorstransfers)on Twitter, the Irons remain interested in the Texas-born ace.

The report claims that West Ham have ‘opened talks’ to sign the [25-times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/weston-mckennie/nationalmannschaft/spieler/332697/verein_id/3505) combative midfielder.

Signed on a permanent basis this summer following a successful loan spell from Schalke for £22.7million ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12961/12059579/weston-mckennie-juventus-sign-us-midfielder-from-schalke)), McKennie has made five appearances so far this season.

Despite the [recent](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/weston-mckennie/transfers/spieler/332697) acquisition, the report claims that the Old Lady would be ‘open to a deal’ for their new man.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Singing Kral on deadline day has [lessened the need](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) for additional midfield reinforcements.

However, were the [Czech Republic international](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/august/31-august/west-ham-united-bring-czech-republic-midfielder-alex-kral-loan) fail to earn a permanent move, reigniting an interest in McKennie would be a worthwhile venture.

Valued at £22.5million and under contract until 2025 in Italy ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/weston-mckennie/marktwertverlauf/spieler/332697)), any move for the American would come at a cost for the club.
