# Virals: David Ornstein rubs salt in West Ham transfer wounds on Twitter

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/29/rio-ferdinand-praises-on-fire-west-ham-striker-michail-antonio/) were made to rub their eyes in disbelief once again as ex-Irons’ striker [Sebastien Haller](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/16/virals-ex-west-ham-ace-sebastien-haller-nets-four-on-ucl-debut/) scored another UEFA Champions League goal.

The 27-year-old followed up a remarkable [four-goal haul](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sebastien-haller/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/181375/saison/2021/wettbewerb/CL/verein/610) against Sporting CP with another goal at home to Besiktas in a 2-0 Ajax victory.

Since being sold in January for £20.25million ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55576847)), Haller has recaptured his best form in Holland.

That form however looks unlikely to reward West Ham with further funds in the shape of additional fees as journalist [David Ornstein](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1442941071051268097) confirmed there was no goal bonus included in the deal.

Scored 10 in all comps this season following 11 last season after joining Ajax from West Ham in Jan. Haller’s goalscoring exploits in the opening two Champions League fixtures are the [best ever](https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/1442906101532426241) by a player in the competition.

Overall the [six-times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sebastien-haller/nationalmannschaft/spieler/181375/verein_id/3591) Ivory Coast ace has scored [10 times and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sebastien-haller/leistungsdaten/spieler/181375) in 10 outings this season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

It looks as though now more than ever that Haller [simply didn’t work](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9317841/West-Ham-flop-Sebastien-Haller-45m-price-tag-weighed-shoulders.html) in east London.

Signed on the back of [24 direct goal contributions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sebastien-haller/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/181375/plus/0/saison/2018/wettbewerb/L1/verein/24) in the 2018/19 Bundesliga, the Ivorian looked to be primed for the Premier League.

However, having managed just [14 goals and three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sebastien-haller/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/181375) in 54 outings for the Hammers, it’s clear to see things weren’t quite right.

In terms of the deal to see, West Ham could begin to feel they’ve missed a trick by not including bonuses when selling the [£24.3million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sebastien-haller/marktwertverlauf/spieler/181375) ace to further boost their own coffers – particularly in Europe.
