# Virals: Forgotten Manchester United man set to face West Ham

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/22/virals-winston-reid-bids-fond-farewell-to-west-ham-on-social-media/) will be looking to exact rapid revenge over Manchester United in the Carabao Cup tonight (Wednesday, September 22).

The Hammers were edged out of a tight encounter at the London Stadium last weekend as [Mark Noble](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/13/virals-west-ham-duo-join-billy-horschel-to-celebrate-golf-success/) missed a penalty late on to level the match at 2-2.

Ultimately it was Irons’ loan ace from last season, Jesse Lingard, who had the final say as David Moyes’ side were left with [nothing to show](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/september/20-september/extended-highlights-west-ham-united-1-2-manchester-united) for their efforts.

There could be another familiar face returning to the side in Manchester as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer [hinted](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/solskjaer-confirms-jones-in-man-utd-squad-v-west-ham-on-22-september-2021) Phil Jones could be in line to make a first competitive appearance for the best part of three years.

Meanwhile, Moyes has a [decision to make over Michail Antonio](https://www.skysports.com/football/manchester-united-vs-west-ham-united/preview/457304) as the striker is available once again having missed the Premier League clash due to suspension.

In [superb form](https://www.sofascore.com/player/michail-antonio/47772) so far this season, the 31-year-old will be desperate to feature but may be held back for the trip to Leeds United.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Tentatively [linked with a Moyes reunion](https://metro.co.uk/2021/07/27/west-ham-make-transfer-approach-sign-manchester-united-defender-phil-jones-14994404/) in east London over the summer, it had seemed Jones’ career in the North West was fading to nothing.

This opportunity presents a chance to find a way back into plans, although the Irons will see the inclusion as an area to exploit given the [lengthy absence](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/phil-jones/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/117996).

Despite [competing on the European front](https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/clubs/53358--west-ham/), Moyes and co should be desperate to go deep into a domestic cup competition this season and overcoming Manchester United would be a huge statement of intent.
