# Virals: West Ham ‘set sights’ on Rangers defender Connor Goldson

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/16/four-full-debutants-possible-as-west-ham-face-dinamo-zagreb/) have reportedly ‘set sights’ on Rangers central defender [Connor Goldson](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/24/west-ham-keeping-tabs-on-connor-goldson/).

The Hammers are believed to be monitoring the situation surrounding the 28-year-old as a [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/connor-goldson/profil/spieler/163656) heads towards its expiry.

Irons’ boss David Moyes could sanction a move in January as the Glasgow giants [struggle](https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/19497205.connor-goldson-reveals-hasnt-yet-signed-new-rangers-deal-talks-continue/#:~:text=CONNOR%20Goldson%20has%20revealed%20there,on%20signing%20a%20new%20contract.) to tie the Englishman down to an extended deal.

That’s according to a fresh report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-keep-tabs-on-rangers-star-goldson-after-offer-rejected/), as cited previously on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/footyinsider247/status/1410515196783833092), claiming the club has a long-standing interest in the ace.

Signing [Kurt Zouma this summer](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12391116/kurt-zouma-west-ham-sign-france-international-defender-from-chelsea-on-four-year-deal) bolstered the central defensive ranks, however, long-term replacements may still need to be sought for Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson.

Last season the powerful ace [scored four and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/connor-goldson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/163656/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/SC1/verein/124) in 33 Scottish Premiership outings as the ‘Ger lifted the title.

Already this term Goldson has earned an impressive [7.33 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/connor-goldson/134364) from four league appearances and will likely be in Europa League action this week.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £6.75million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/connor-goldson/marktwertverlauf/spieler/163656)), it comes as little surprise that West Ham would be keen to land the defender either on the cheap or for nothing next summer.

The former [Brighton & Hove Albion man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/connor-goldson/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/163656) has truly found his feet in Scotland and should be considered a worthwhile acquisition by those in recruitment at the London Stadium.

A [strong tackler](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/134258/Show/Connor-Goldson) with an eye for goal from set-pieces, Moyes would relish the opportunity to further advance Goldson’s skillset.
