# Virals: Declan Rice sends message of support to Harvey Elliott

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/10/mark-lawrenson-predicts-shock-west-ham-result-this-weekend/) midfielder [Declan Rice](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/07/virals-west-ham-star-reaches-1m-instagram-followers/) has taken to social media to send a message of support to Liverpool teenager Harvey Elliott.

The 18-year-old was taken to hospital during [Liverpool’s 3-0 victory](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/443013-watch-highlights-leeds-premier-league) over Leeds United on Sunday afternoon after suffering a badly dislocated ankle.

Later on, it was [confirmed](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/443106-harvey-elliott-injury-update) the attacking midfielder had been discharged and would need to undergo surgery this week.

Rice, showed class for a fellow professional by taking to [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/stories/declanrice/2661300161773366619/?hl=en) to wish Elliott a speedy recovery.

Rice said: “Get well soon Harv. Top boy and player. Speedy recovery.”

Elliott had made a [superb start](https://www.sofascore.com/player/harvey-elliott/955245) to the new Premier League season having spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers.

Recently [called up](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/16261/12391902/harvey-elliott-liverpool-winger-receives-first-england-u21-call-up-for-september-internationals) to England Under 21 duty, the teenage attacking midfielder was showing signs of producing a breakthrough season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

No doubt everyone at West Ham echoes Rice’s sentiments.

Nobody likes to see such a cruel blow happen to anyone, let alone a teenager [making his way](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-liverpool-harvey-elliott-19421102) at the top level.

Hopefully, without further complications and following [successful surgery](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/harvey-elliott-set-undergo-surgery-21551905), Elliott can bounce back and will return later on this season.
