# Virals: West Ham ‘showed a lot of interest’ in Sevilla striker Munir

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/09/virals-pablo-fornals-opens-spain-goal-account-vs-kosovo/) are believed to have shown a desire to sign Sevilla striker [Munir](https://readwestham.com/2017/07/12/hammers-told-raise-bid-12-5m-munir/) this summer up until deadline day.

The Hammers were in the market for a centre-forward to support Michail Antonio following [Sebastien Haller’s departure](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/january/08-january/sebastien-haller-joins-ajax) in January.

Despite strengthening [multiple areas](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379) of David Moyes’ squad, no recognised frontman was forthcoming.

According to agent Valdi, speaking to [ABC](https://sevilla.abc.es/orgullodenervion/fichajes-sevilla-fc/sevi-munir-ofertas-recibidas-y-intrahistoria-situacion-tras-salida-jong-202109071236_noticia.html), as cited by [RumorsTransfersNews24/7](https://twitter.com/rumorstransfers)on Twitter, the Irons were keen on signing the 26-year-old.

The representative of the [four times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/munir-el-haddadi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/223725/verein_id/3575) Morocco ace has claimed: “In England, both Crystal Palace and West Ham showed a lot of interest until the last day of the market.”

Signed from Barcelona in 2019, last season Munir scored [four and assisted two goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/munir-el-haddadi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/223725) in 24 La Liga outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £9million and under contract in Spain until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/munir-el-haddadi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/223725)), the mooted £8.5million asking price would’ve represented value for money.

Believed to be available on a loan with an option to buy, it’s perhaps somewhat [surprising](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/munir-el-haddadi/erfolge/spieler/223725) the Hammers didn’t pull the trigger on this deal.

Albeit far from an eye-catching goal record, Munir possesses [qualities](https://www.infogol.net/en/player/munir/1531) that would lend themselves to at the very least offering support to Antonio throughout the season.
