# Virals: Kurt Zouma ‘most likely’ new West Ham signing to feature

New [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/09/commenator-fawns-over-pablo-fornals-first-ever-spain-goal/) signing [Kurt Zouma](https://readwestham.com/a) has been billed as the ‘most likely’ of the summer arrivals to see first-team action from the start.

The 26-year-old Frenchman joined the Hammers in the final days of the transfer window, completing a £29.8million switch from London rivals Chelsea ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12391116/kurt-zouma-west-ham-sign-france-international-defender-from-chelsea-on-four-year-deal)).

The centre-back joined fellow countryman Alphonse Areola at the London Stadium before [Nikola Vlasic and Alex Kral arrived](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/aug/31/west-ham-seal-nikola-vlasic-signing-for-25m-from-cska-moscow) on deadline day.

According to a detailed report looking into the Irons squad depth from [Football London](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/west-ham-premier-league-europa-21524028), as cited on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Football_LDN), Zouma could be the first to enter David Moyes’ starting lineup.

The report cites the [eight-times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kurt-zouma/nationalmannschaft/spieler/157509/verein_id/3377) ace’s ‘wealth of experience’ and a worrying defensive record in Moyes’ side as a reason for utilising Zouma early.

A former Everton loanee, the powerful defender has amassed [165 Premier League appearances](https://www.premierleague.com/players/5175/Kurt-Zouma/stats) following a move from Ligue 1 side Saint Etienne in 2014.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Despite making an unbeaten start to the new season, [five goals conceded](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) in the opening three matches is a worrying trend.

Boasting a distinguished, [trophy-laden](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kurt-zouma/erfolge/spieler/157509) career, the Frenchman certainly has the credentials to slot straight into the West Ham backline.

Valued at £28.8milion ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kurt-zouma/marktwertverlauf/spieler/157509)), Zouma will be hoping to make an immediate impact in solidifying the defence.
