# Virals: Jesse Lingard has ‘rejected’ a new contract at Manchester United

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/08/virals-tweet-shows-new-west-ham-ace-nikola-vlasics-international-impact/) target [Jesse Lingard](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/07/virals-jesse-lingard-thanks-west-ham-fans-for-2020-21-award/) has reportedly ‘rejected’ a new contract at Manchester United.

The 28-year-old remained at Old Trafford in spite of a summer of [strong speculation](https://talksport.com/football/916485/west-ham-linked-jesse-lingard-man-united-solskjaer/) linking the ace with a permanent move to the London Stadium.

Lingard enjoyed a [resurgence in form](https://www.sofascore.com/player/kurt-zouma/139227) in east London last season having been case aside in Manchester.

Despite the [apparent reluctance](https://www.football365.com/news/jesse-lingard-tells-ole-gunnar-solskjaer-stay-manchester-united) to force a move, Lingard has now rejected the offer of an extended stay at Manchester United.

That’s according to a report from the [Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/jesse-lingard-rejects-new-manchester-united-contract-after-snubbing-west-ham-return-over-the-summer-b954187.html), as cited on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/standardsport/status/1435300760552624139), claiming the attacking midfielder has refused a new deal.

The [31 times capped England man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/nationalmannschaft/spieler/141660/verein_id/3299) scored twice for Gareth Southgate’s side in Sunday’s 4-0 victory over Andorra.

This season, the man described as [‘unique’](https://onefootball.com/en/news/manchester-united-legend-praises-unique-jesse-lingard-20514751) by Michael Carrick, is yet to start a Premier League fixture and has seen just [four minutes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660) of action.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

It would appear to be a case of Deja Vu.

Last season Lingard [failed to break into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/141660) before joining the Hammers in January.

A repeat could well be on the cards either mid-season or at the end of the 2021/22 campaign when the star [becomes a free agent](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/profil/spieler/141660).

Whether or not the interest remains from David Moyes is up for debate, especially following the [deadline day signing](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/august/31-august/west-ham-united-sign-croatia-international-attacker-nikola) of Nikola Vlasic.
