# Virals: Jesse Lingard thanks West Ham fans for 2020/21 award

Superstar loanee [Jesse Lingard](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/06/danny-mills-predicts-bargain-jesse-lingard-signing-in-january/) has thanked [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/07/virals-manchester-united-remain-keen-on-west-ham-star-declan-rice/) fans on social media after receiving a prestigious club award.

The 28-year-old was awarded the [best individual performance](https://www.whufc.com/fans/2021-player-awards/individual-performance) from last season for a remarkable display against Wolves back in April.

Lingard scored once and registered another assist at Molineux whilst earning a [Sofascore rating of 7.60](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jesse-lingard/205508).

Upon receipt of the award, the [31-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/nationalmannschaft/spieler/141660/verein_id/3299) England man took to [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/jesselingard/?hl=en) to thank the Hammers faithful, as cited by [West Ham Transfers](https://twitter.com/westhamtransfer/status/1434907765328257029?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1434907765328257029%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hammers.news%2Fnews%2Fjesse-lingard-sends-instagram-message-to-the-west-ham-fans%2F) on Twitter.

Overall the attacking midfielder [scored nine and added five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/141660/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/379) in 16 Premier League outings for the Irons during a six-month loan spell at the London Stadium.

That form earned the star an England recall as well as [interest from David Moyes](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-transfer-news-jesse-lingard-man-utd-david-moyes-hope-b935221.html) in making the move permanent.

Still a Manchester United player, Lingard has made just [one substitute appearance](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660) so far this season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

In truth, the loan sensation could’ve picked up this award for many of his [all-encompassing performances](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jesse-lingard/205508) in east London.

A hit from the start, Lingard truly seemed reborn at West Ham and many might’ve predicted a [permanent switch](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/jesse-lingard-manchester-united-transfer-21228725) was a mere formality.

Alas, it wasn’t to be and the Hammers faithful will simply have to watch on and hope something could happen in January for the [£19.8million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/marktwertverlauf/spieler/141660#:~:text=%22Attacking%20Midfield%22.-,With%20a%20market%20value%20of%20%C2%A319.80m%2C%20Jesse%20Lingard,players%20of%20the%20Premier%20League.) man.
