# Carlton Cole clashes with pundit over London rivals

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/06/kevin-campbell-believes-west-ham-have-strengthened-with-brilliant-signing/) favourite [Carlton Cole](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/20/carlton-cole-believes-west-ham-star-declan-rice-is-worth-100million/) has been embroiled in a heated debate whilst defending the Irons this week.

Cole played for Chelsea, Celtic, Aston Villa and Charlton Athletic during a [distinguished](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/carlton-cole/erfolge/spieler/3179) playing career, but it was the [67 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/carlton-cole/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/3179) in claret and blue where the frontman truly made his name.

The ex-Irons’ striker wasn’t afraid to [pull any punches on the field](https://www.planetfootball.com/nostalgia/carlton-cole-a-mystery-box-of-a-striker-who-was-only-ever-world-class-or-awful/) and has continued in the same vein during a delve into punditry.

Appearing on [talkSPORT](https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/1434826962250260480?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1434826962250260480%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-22519745663310462872.ampproject.net%2F2108192119000%2Fframe.html) with former Chelsea man Jason Cundy, the 37-year-old was upset when it was suggested West Ham needed to win a trophy to become a ‘big club’.

Following the video, Cole took to his personal [Twitter](https://twitter.com/CarltonCole1/status/1434850556422639618) account and simply put: “A few ruffled feathers.”

## READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Only Cundy’s former employers can truly hold the crown as the [‘biggest club in London’](https://interestingfootball.com/top-10-biggest-london-football-clubs-best-soccer-teams-nicknames/) given Arsenal and Tottenham’s dramatic fall from grace in recent times.

It could certainly be argued that east London currently houses a bigger club than the north of the city.

Regardless of status, it’s currently David Moyes’ side that are [surpassing](https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/) Spurs and the Gunners in both domestic and European matters.

Long may it continue and good on Cole for shutting down the nonsense.
