# Virals: West Ham starlet Conor Coventry nets first international goal

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/06/stuart-pearce-lauds-professional-west-ham-star-michail-antonio/) youngster [Conor Coventry](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/31/virals-west-ham-midfielder-conor-coventry-heading-to-peterborough/) netted a first international goal over the weekend.

The 21-year-old scored for the Republic of Ireland at Under 21 level as Jim Crawford’s side overcame their Bosnia and Herzegovina counterparts [2-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58384466) in Zenica on Friday.

Coventry wore the captain’s armband for the clash as the young Irish made a [winning start](https://www.fai.ie/ireland/news/report-bosnia-u21-0-2-ireland-u21) to their European Championship qualifying campaign.

As capture by [RTE Soccer](https://twitter.com/RTEsoccer/status/1433891816571555840) on Twitter, the London-born midfielder capped off a sublime set-piece move to double the lead and secure all three points.

Currently [on loan at Peterborough United](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58401287) following a deadline day switch, the Hammers academy graduate’s strike was his first in [28 international appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/conor-coventry/nationalmannschaft/spieler/419025/verein_id/21103) across various youth levels.
