# Pundits heap praise on Declan Rice following resounding England display

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/02/stuart-pearce-pleased-with-transfer-business-at-west-ham/) midfielder [Declan Rice](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/24/virals-manchester-united-to-step-up-their-pursuit-of-declan-rice/) has been at the heart of the praise following a superb 4-0 England victory over Hungary.

On a night when [football stole the show](https://talksport.com/football/936522/hungary-v-england-live-commentary-team-news-stream-kick-off-time/) over some abhorrent off-field controversy, the 22-year-old was at the heart of the positivity.

Rice rounded off the scoring late on moments before being replaced when a [long-range effort](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPSzQOJkCgo) found its way through RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi.

On a night [marred](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58428699) by controversy, Rice and co came out with huge credit.

Not only a [stellar performance](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12397993/hungary-0-4-england-gareth-southgates-side-can-continue-to-improve-all-the-way-to-the-world-cup) including four unanswered goals, but the players also carried themselves with pride in what was an increasingly hostile atmosphere.
