# Virals: Xande Silva joins Nottingham Forest on permanent deal

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/31/virals-czech-duo-welcome-alex-kral-to-west-ham-in-unique-style/) left it late to confirm the permanent departure of Portuguese forward [Xande Silva](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/31/virals-west-ham-outcast-xande-silva-an-option-for-nottingham-forest/).

As a chaotic transfer deadline day came to its conclusion, during which the Hammers [signed Nikola Vlasic and Alex Kral](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379) from CSKA and Spartak Moscow respectively, there was still time for one more confirmed deal.

Outcast frontman Silva, who spent [last season on loan](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/xande-silva/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/258011/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GR1/verein/605) at Aris Thessaloniki, joined Championship strugglers Nottingham Forest.

Confirmed by the [club’s official website](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/august/31-august/xande-silva-departs-west-ham-united-nottingham-forest) as well as [Forest’s official Twitter](https://twitter.com/NFFC/status/1432827283144908800) account, the 24-year-old became a Red late on Tuesday night.

Silva joins the Midlands club for an undisclosed fee and admitted he was [‘very happy’](https://twitter.com/NFFC/status/1432831555630735361) to have sealed the transfer.

Signed from Vitoria de Guimaraes in August 2018, the [65-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/xande-silva/nationalmannschaft/spieler/258011/verein_id/16374) Portugal youth international struggled to settle in East London.

Making just [two first-team appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/xande-silva/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/258011/verein/379) during the 2018/19 season, Silva was quickly deemed surplus to requirements under David Moyes.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

West Ham will be delighted to have [recouped any funds](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/xande-silva/transfers/spieler/258011) for their outcast frontman.

Despite the distinct lack of backup recognised striker in David Moyes’ squad, it always seemed highly unlikely Silva was going to perform a [major career resurrection](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/xande-silva/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/258011) at the club.

Hammers will no doubt watch on with interest to see the [versatile Portuguse forward](https://www.besoccer.com/player/alexandre-silva-299073) performs this season and beyond.
