# Pundit labels West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen a ‘world-beater’

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/01/virals-west-ham-teammates-welcome-alex-kral-on-social-media/) forward [Jarrod Bowen](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/21/virals-journalist-names-jarrod-bowen-as-surprise-liverpool-target/) has been turning heads ever since arriving at the London Stadium.

Signed from Hull City for £20million plus add ons ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51323082)), Bowen hadn’t managed a single top-flight goal at the time of purchase.

Born in Leominster, the versatile winger was snapped up by the Yorkshire club as a teenager after just [eight National League games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/314875/verein/3064) for Hereford United.

Speaking on [talkSPORT (31 August, 10.50am)](https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1630400400/), ever-controversial co-host and ex-Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan admitted that the 24-year-old had transformed himself following early observations.

> I thought Jarrod Bowen was bloody useless! I went to watch him at Hull and thought; ‘Jesus, don’t buy him’. And now look at him. He looks like a world-beater!

Brought to East London on the back of a [16 goal and six assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/314875/plus/0/saison/2019/wettbewerb/GB2/verein/3008) Championship campaign, Bowen has gone from strength to strength with the Hammers.

Last term, the ace [scored eight and assisted five goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/314875/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/379) in a first full Premier League season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £27million and under contract at the London Stadium until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/marktwertverlauf/spieler/314875)), West Ham may have to guard against future offers amidst widely [reported](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1484387/Liverpool-transfer-news-Jarrod-Bowen-gossip-rumours-update-deadline-day) interest from Liverpool.

Always a willing runner, Bowen has added [additional attacking qualities](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322596/Show/Jarrod-Bowen) to an energetic all-round game.

Whilst the Iron will likely not care for Jordan, or anyone else’s opinion, the fact West Ham players are changing pre-conceived impressions goes to show the [current levels of achievement](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/may/23-may/west-ham-united-qualify-uefa-europa-league-final-day-win-over) and recruitment at the club.
