# Virals: West Ham ‘hold an interest’ in Lille forward Jonathan Bamba

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/31/noel-whelan-urges-west-ham-to-seal-bargain-divock-origi-capture/) are believed to maintain an interest in Lille forward [Jonathan Bamba](https://readwestham.com/2018/03/20/west-ham-target-bamba-hoping-quick-conclusion-future/) as the deadline draws ever closer.

The Hammers have been busy on the final day of the window, signing Nikola Vlasic and seemingly [edging towards the capture of Alex Kral](https://twitter.com/JBurtTelegraph/status/1432651716630024192?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) from Spartak Moscow.

David Moyes could still be in the market for a recognised striker in the final hours and Bamba has been [mentioned](https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2021/atalanta-bayer-leverkusen-and-west-ham-among-clubs-interested-in-lilles-jonathan-bamba/) as a possible target.

That’s according to an update from reputable club insider [ExWHUemployee](https://www.patreon.com/posts/forward-55568590) this afternoon and [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/transfer-centre), as cited by [West Ham Fan Zone](https://twitter.com/WestHamViews_/status/1432679217234423811) on Twitter.

The 25-year-old Frenchman has earned [19-caps](https://twitter.com/JBurtTelegraph/status/1432651716630024192?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) at Under 21 level and was part of the Lille side that lifted the Ligue 1 title last term.

Last season the versatile forward [scored six and assisted 11 other goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-bamba/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/292818/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/FR1/verein/1082) in 38 league outings – earning an impressive [6.94 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jonathan-bamba/595576) in the process.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £22.5million and under contract until 2023 in France ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-bamba/marktwertverlauf/spieler/292818)), signing Bamba late in the day would represent another expensive outlay for the club.

Capable of [operating across the frontline](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-bamba/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/292818), the addition would suitably strengthen the attacking options at Moyes’ disposal.

Possessing an [abundance](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/241019/Show/Jonathan-Bamba) of attacking attributes, Hammers fans would certainly allow themselves to get excited should any deal materialise in the coming hours.
