# Virals: West Ham striker Mipo Odubeko attracts ‘serious attention’

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/27/paul-robinson-claims-west-ham-firmly-in-driving-seat-for-jesse-lingard/) youngster [Mipo Odubeko](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/11/andriy-yarmolenko-injury-mipo-odubeko-opportunity-west-ham/) is reportedly attracting ‘serious attention’ from the Championship.

The 18-year-old is currently the only recognised striker acting as support for Michail Antonio in [David Moyes’ squad](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) but could still be on the move before the end of the month.

[Huddersfield Town](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table) have been billed favourites to sign Odubeko, whilst interest also comes from Derby County and Middlesbrough.

That’s according to a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2708591/2021/08/27/transfer-news-west-ham-mipo-odubeko/), as cited by [Roshane Thomas](https://twitter.com/RoshaneSport/status/1431300413693865986) on Twitter.

The report claims that the [Republic of Ireland youth international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ademipo-odubeko/nationalmannschaft/spieler/655880/verein_id/21103) is open to a loan move in order to continue developing and is ‘keen’ to find regular game time.

Odubeko made a [first-team debut](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ademipo-odubeko/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/655880/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/FAC/verein/379) last season as the Hammers overcame Stockport County in the FA Cup Third Round.

This season the Irish teenager has [netted twice](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ademipo-odubeko/leistungsdaten/spieler/655880) in two Premier League 2 games for the Irons’ Under 23 side.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Despite being one of few players at the club capable of playing as a centre-forward, the [£225,000 valued starlet](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ademipo-odubeko/marktwertverlauf/spieler/655880) has been left out of both of Moyes’ squads in the Premier League.

That is a damning indictment of exactly where Odubeko is in terms of [development](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ademipo-odubeko/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/655880) and would suggest a loan move would indeed be best for all parties.

Should the ex-Manchester United academy ace leave, however, it makes the need for an additional attacking option before [Tuesday’s deadline](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12257542/summer-transfer-window-2021-when-does-it-open-news-dates-and-deadline-day) even more pivotal.
