# Harry Redknapp lauds ‘unplayable’ Michail Antonio

Former [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/26/virals-west-ham-bid-for-gaetan-laborde-expected-imminently/) manager Harry Redknapp has been lauding the form of current Iron, [Michail Antonio](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/24/gary-neville-lauds-absolutely-brilliant-michail-antonio-display/).

The 31-year-old striker became the club’s record Premier League goalscorer on Monday night with a [superb brace](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/michail-antonio-surpasses-paolo-di-canio-after-tearing-into-ten-man-leicester-city-53d3vk6nb) against Leicester City.

Those strikes took the Jamaican registered international to [49 strikes](https://www.premierleague.com/players/9595/Michail-Antonio/stats) for the Hammers in the top flight and three for the new season from two outings.

Speaking to [talkSPORT (Thursday, August 26 7:40am)](https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1629954000/), Redknapp was full of praise for the versatile star.

> It was a great night the other night. I love watching them. Seeing the fans, they have got great support, West Ham – the atmosphere was electric. David Moyes has just done an amazing job. I love the team. Dawson, what a free transfer he was. The two Czech boys, the right-back and the midfield player. How good have they been? Antonio is unplayable, at the moment, He looks such a good player. The team is looking great, let’s hope it continues and it will hopefully be a great year for West Ham.

Last season, Antonio scored [10 league goals and registered five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michail-antonio/leistungsdaten/spieler/104124/plus/0?saison=2020) in an outstanding campaign for the Hammers.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

This current [squad](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad), manager and overall feel-good factor certainly have all the makings of a wonderful 2021/22 season.

However, the fact remains that without delving into a [perceived £45million transfer war-chest](https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/football/jim-white-makes-%C2%A345million-west-ham-transfer-budget-claim/ar-AANHgPW) in the final days of the window, the resources will perhaps be stretched too far as the year wears on.

Were smart incomings to be completed before the [deadline](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12257542/summer-transfer-window-2021-when-does-it-open-news-dates-and-deadline-day) on Tuesday night – perhaps starting with Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma – the ‘unplayable’ Antonio and co would surely be set for another remarkable campaign.
