# Virals: Potential West Ham owner taken to task on takeover bid

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/17/rio-ferdinand-believes-declan-rice-would-be-a-massive-addition-at-rivals/) has been subject to a potential takeover in recent weeks after it emerged a consortium by the name of PAI Capital were interested in buying the club.

[Reports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12360223/west-hams-owners-turn-down-informal-approach-to-buy-club-former-qpr-chief-philip-beard-among-those-interested#:~:text=West%20Ham's%20owners%20David%20Sullivan,approach%20to%20buy%20the%20club.) of an official bid were believed to be wide of the mark as current owners David Gold and David Sullivan [continue to insist](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/west-ham-pai-capital-takeover-21243007) the Hammers are not for sale.

On the field, the Irons are preparing to embark on a season [containing Europa League](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/may/23-may/west-ham-united-qualify-uefa-europa-league-final-day-win-over#:~:text=May%2018%3A13-,West%20Ham%20United%20qualify%20for%20UEFA%20Europa,final%2Dday%20win%20over%20Southampton&text=A%20first%2Dhalf%20brace%20from,for%20the%20UEFA%20Europa%20League.) football, albeit further activity is required before the end of the transfer market.

Former QPR chief executive and head of the takeover group, Philip Beard, appeared on [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/928492/simon-jordan-consortium-west-ham-second-bid-david-gold-david-sullivan/) on Monday to face questions surrounding the intentions.

Beard also stated that a bid had been made, however, the [current occupants](https://www.whufc.com/club/corporate-information/ownership) hold the club at a ‘much higher value’ than the perceived ‘realistic valuation’.

Beard added: added: “We are preparing a second bid. My key message is we are serious about this.”

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

On the face of matters, it would seem the group have the club’s best intentions at heart – with talk of on-field investment being high on the list of priorities.

The stadium and its uses seems to be another topic high on Beard’s agenda – a situation that has [wrangled with many Hammers](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/david-gold-reveals-regrets-west-17420930) since moving from the Boleyn Ground.

Whether or not the takeover is a possibility remains to be seen, but uncertainty over the ownership cannot help matters when it comes to helping [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/14/trevor-sinclair-laments-transfer-inactivity-at-west-ham/) with investment now, something that is desperately required before August 31.
