# Gabby Agbonlahor urges West Ham to land ‘perfect’ Divock Origi capture

Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor has urged [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/13/virals-west-ham-show-concrete-interest-in-wolves-starlet-owen-otasowie/) to sign Liverpool striker [Divock Origi](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/12/alex-mcleish-insists-divock-origi-could-be-sensational-at-west-ham/) before the transfer window closes.

The Hammers have been [linked](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/alternative-deal-west-ham-moyes-liverpool-divock-origi-transfer) with the 26-year-old previously and could be tempted by a [reported](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-open-preliminary-talks-to-sign-origi-after-liverpool-asking-price-slashed/) recent slash in asking price from £20million to £15million.

Origi has been a regular feature in Jurgen Klopp’s plans over recent seasons, albeit more often than not as an [impact substitute](https://www.lfchistory.net/Players/Player/GoalsPerMatchRole/1276-0) from the bench.

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/west-ham-is-perfect-destination-as-liverpool-talks-revealed-agbonlahor/), Agbonlahor has implored the Irons to make the Belgian their much-needed striker recruit.

> I think he’s exactly what they need. They are desperate for another striker. They only have Antonio, and he gets quite a few injuries. Someone like Origi can be the perfect backup. You can bring him on in a game or you can start him if Antonio gets injured. He is a threat, definitely. Is he the striker that is going to fire you into the top six next season? Maybe not. But for £13m, you don’t know what West Ham’s budget is. So it could be really good business. He’ll do a good job for them. He’s not gonna moan about being on the bench so it suits both the player and the club.

Overall Origi has amassed [58 club career goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/148368) in 282 appearances across spells with the Reds, Lille and a loan stint at Wolfsburg.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Capped on [29 occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/148368/verein_id/3382) by Belgium, the £10.8million valued ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/148368/verein_id/3382)) ace was once [highly regarded](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/liverpool-transfer-news-divock-origi-joins-world-cup-star-immediately-loaned-back-lille-9636257.html) as a potential star for both club and country.

However, two seasons [rather in the wilderness](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/148368) at Anfield has seen the forward’s stock somewhat stall and a change could be the perfect antidote.

West Ham are certainly in dire need of [attacking additions](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) and for the mooted fees could do a lot worse than attempting to recapture Origi’s best form in east London.
