# Virals: Manchester United reportedly ‘open’ to sale of Jesse Lingard

Manchester United are now reportedly ‘open’ to selling recent [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/12/virals-west-ham-target-ellyes-skhiri-open-to-summer-transfer/) loan star [Jesse Lingard](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/05/darren-bent-urges-jesse-lingard-to-walk-away-from-manchester-united/) this summer.

The Hammers were believed to be keen to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent basis following a [stunning spell in east London](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jesse-lingard/205508) during the second half of the Premier League season.

Previously the attacking midfielder was set to [become part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/12358532/jesse-lingard-part-of-man-utds-plans-for-new-season-says-ole-gunnar-solskjaer) at Old Trafford.

However, according to a report from the [Manchester Evening News](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/man-united-news-premier-league-21262535), as cited by [West Ham Now](https://twitter.com/WestHamNow_/status/1425733488884555780) on Twitter, a sale could once again be on the cards.

The report claims that the [29-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/nationalmannschaft/spieler/141660/verein_id/3299) England man now has a seat ‘reserved in the departure lounge’ in Manchester as the season gets underway.

Lingard [scored nine and assisted another five goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/141660) in 16 league outings for the Irons last term and David Moyes [admitted](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-transfer-news-jesse-lingard-man-utd-david-moyes-hope-b935221.html) there was a desire to make the move permanent.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

As [games begin to come](https://www.premierleague.com/news/2171434) and star players return to the fold, there was always the possibility this could be the case before the end of the transfer window.

Despite playing a leading role during pre-season, as Manchester United welcome back the likes of [Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes](https://www.manutd.com/en/players-and-staff/first-team) and Donny van de Beek, Lingard’s continued role was always likely to come under scrutiny.

Albeit not the recognised striker perhaps required at the London Stadium, the English attacking midfielder [proved his worth twice over](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11096/12273193/jesse-lingard-in-scintillating-form-at-west-ham-after-loan-from-man-utd#:~:text=In%20addition%20to%20producing%20a,15%20unblocked%20shots%20or%20more.) and would certainly be deserving of a move to West Ham.
