# Alex Crook tells West Ham to ‘look out for’ movement on Divock Origi

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/11/virals-journalist-claims-west-ham-unwilling-to-meet-kurt-zouma-valuation/) have been [linked](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/phillips-urges-west-ham-sign-liverpool-divock-origi) with a move for Liverpool forward [Divock Origi](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/09/virals-west-ham-begin-preliminary-talks-to-sign-divock-origi/) in recent weeks and the possibility has been highlighted once again.

This comes as the Hammers [near a second summer signing](https://sportwitness.co.uk/defender-virtually-new-west-ham-player-will-say-goodbye-teammates/) in the shape of centre-back Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina.

The 23-year-old Serbian is expected to follow French goalkeeper [Alphonse Areola through the arrival door](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/july/29-july/west-ham-united-sign-world-cup-winning-goalkeeper-alphonse-areola) at the London Stadium.

Having potentially solved two problem positions in the [squad](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad), David Moyes’ attention must now surely turn to a striker.

According to journalist Alex Crook, while speaking to [talkSPORT (Wednesday, 12:25pm)](https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1628672400/1628679600/), a move for Origi is worth ‘keeping tabs’ on.

> The other name to look out for is Divock Origi at Liverpool. He’s on the books of agent Will Salthouse who is very close to the West Ham hierarchy. They do need a striker so keep tabs on that one in the coming weeks. Year left on his contract and probably not going to get game time. But they don’t want decent money.

Liverpool are believed to have [lessened their demands](https://theathletic.com/2751277/2021/08/05/liverpool-mailbag-origi-and-shaqiris-futures-contract-renewals-and-elliotts-role-this-season/?source=user_shared_article) for the 26-year-old frontman from £20million to £15million this summer.

Last season the [29 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/148368/verein_id/3382) Belgian scored just once in [17 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/148368) across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Currently holding a market value of £10.8million and in the final 12 months of a deal at Anfield ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/148368)), West Ham would be confident of further reducing the asking price to engineer a worthwhile deal.

Despite a disappointing 2020/21 campaign, the versatile attacker has often [produced on the big stage](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool/from-liverpool-outcast-to-cult-hero-divock-origi-s-rise-explained-by-the-man-who-gave-him-his-debut-a4171941.html) during a trophy-laden career on Merseyside.

Often unable to obtain any rhythm due to being the fourth choice in a [well-equipped](https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/comparing-liverpools-front-three-with-the-best-attacks-in-europe-in-2019-20/) front three, a move away could reignite a talented individual.

For the right price and with [affordable options](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/) seemingly thin on the ground, Moyes could do much worse than Origi.
