# Virals: West Ham reportedly ‘very interested’ in Omar Colley

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/10/virals-match-officials-confirmed-for-trip-to-newcastle-united/) are reportedly ‘very interested in signing Sampdoria centre-back [Omar Colley](https://readwestham.com/2020/08/20/west-ham-have-not-given-up-on-omar-colley/) this summer.

The Hammers appear to be [nearing a deal](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/west-ham-transfer-nikola-milenkovic-21265289) for Fiorentina 23-year-old Nikola Milenkovic but continue to be linked with potential alternatives.

Colley is the latest central defender touted as a possible future Iron, following [links](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfer-news-origi-phillips-24716020) to Liverpool ace Nat Phillips earlier this week.

According to a report from [Club Doria 46](https://www.clubdoria46.it/2021/08/08/calciomercato-sampdoria-colley-punto/), as cited by [Balls and Bells](https://twitter.com/ballsandbells/status/1424929437129199617) on Twitter, the 28-year-old is on the radar at the London Stadium.

The report claims that the [25 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/omar-colley/nationalmannschaft/spieler/174733/verein_id/6186) Gambia international could be available for £12.7million during this transfer window.

Last season, Colley [scored twice](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/omar-colley/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/174733) in 29 Serie A outings – earning an impressive [7.05 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/omar-colley/238408) in the process.

Valued at £5.4million and under contract in Italy until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/omar-colley/marktwertverlauf/spieler/174733)), signing the Gambian for the mooted £12.7million would represent a shrewd deal for the Irons.

However, the question remains should Milenkovic [arrive as expected](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12377255/west-ham-transfer-news-nikola-milenkovic-deal-edges-closer-amid-kurt-zouma-talks), does David Moyes need to add further options to the squad.

The Serbian will join Craig Dawson, Issa Diop, Angelo Ogbonna and Frederik Alves in the [defensive department](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) – leaving another addition unlikely unless a departure is imminent.
