# Virals: West Ham begin ‘preliminary talks’ to sign Divock Origi

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/08/virals-west-ham-very-close-to-signing-pervis-estupinan/) have reportedly opened ‘preliminary talks’ to sign out of favour Liverpool striker [Divock Origi](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/20/virals-ex-confirms-west-ham-are-considering-divock-origi-as-striker-alternative/).

The 26-year-old Belgian could be heading out of Anfield this summer as Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp [looks to reshape](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-transfer-news-shaqiri-origi-24669283) the squad.

Despite becoming a cult hero on Merseyside owing to a host of [all important goals](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7005859/Divock-Origi-scored-Liverpools-biggest-goals-Jurgen-Klopp.html), Origi has struggled to become a regular starter.

According to a report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-open-preliminary-talks-to-sign-origi-after-liverpool-asking-price-slashed/), as cited on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/footyinsider247/status/1424327866255282179), the Hammers could be set to offer the ace a cut-price escape route.

The report claims that Liverpool would now be willing to accept £15million for the [29-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/148368/verein_id/3382) Belgian, having previously demanded £20million.

Klopp once [described](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/376747-jurgen-klopp-divock-origi-rotation-bournemouth-liverpool) Origi as ‘unbelievably important’ to Liverpool, albeit the star only [scored once](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/148368) in 17 appearances last season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

David Moyes is rapidly [heading towards](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results) becoming desperate for an additional striker option at the London Stadium.

As the Irons put together their final preparations ahead of the Premier League campaign, currently the Scot has [only Michail Antonio](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) available as a senior frontman.

Valued at £10.8million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/148368)), spending the mooed £15million on the [59-career goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/148368) Belgian would represent smart value.

A player with [top-level experience](https://www.premierleague.com/players/10465/Divock-Origi/overview) and in the prime years of a career, Origi would be a ready-made option to offer support to Antonio.
