# Virals: West Ham ‘very close’ to signing Pervis Estupinan

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/05/darren-bent-urges-jesse-lingard-to-walk-away-from-manchester-united/) are reportedly close to signing Villarreal left-back Pervis Estupinan this summer.

The Hammers have been expected to find additional competition and support in the position for Aaron Cresswell having [missed out on Junior Firpo](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11715/12349947/junior-firpo-leeds-sign-barcelona-full-back-for-undisclosed-fee-as-ezgjan-alioski-replacement) earlier in the window.

Linked with Hibernian starlet [Josh Doig](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/02/virals-west-ham-target-josh-doig-highly-likely-to-move-this-summer/), Estupinan could be set to arrive at the London Stadium as the Irons beat [Serie A](https://www.skysports.com/serie-a-table) giants Napoli to the Ecuador international.

That’s according to [Calcio News 24](https://www.calcionapoli24.it/calcio_mercato/estupin-napoli-niente-da-fare-andr-in-premier-league-vicinissimo-al-west-n490296.html), as cited by [Louis (West Ham Central)](https://twitter.com/central_louis) on Twitter.

Capped on [12 occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pervis-estupinan/nationalmannschaft/spieler/349599/verein_id/5750) at senior level, the full-back was named in the [CONMEBOL team of the tournament](https://twitter.com/CopaAmerica/status/1414950103480143887?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1414950103480143887%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aa.com.tr%2Fen%2Fsports%2Fconmebol-reveals-best-11-of-copa-america-2021%2F2303720) for the recent Copa America.

Last season Estupinan made [33 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pervis-estupinan/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/349599) across all competitions – including four Europa League outings on route to lifting the trophy.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £13.5million and under contract in Spain until 2027 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pervis-estupinan/marktwertverlauf/spieler/349599)), West Ham would likely have to offer a profit on Villarreal’s [£14.76million expenditure](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pervis-estupinan/transfers/spieler/349599) last summer.

Predominantly a natural left-back, the Ecuadorian star has [also played centre-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pervis-estupinan/leistungsdaten/spieler/349599) and as a more advanced wing-back.

Credited with both [attacking and defensive strengths](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/298694/Show/Pervis-Estupi%C3%B1%C3%A1n), Estupinan looks to be a natural successor to the evergreen Cresswell in east London.
