# Virals: West Ham target Josh Doig ‘highly likely’ to move this summer

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/02/virals-journalist-says-west-ham-have-submitted-14m-offer-for-serie-a-ace/) target [Josh Doig](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/19/virals-west-ham-interested-in-hibernian-full-back-josh-doig/) is expected to leave Hibernian in the near future according to manager Jack Ross.

This comes after the Hammers were linked with a move for the 19-year-old left-back to the London Stadium this summer according to a report from [The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/josh-doig-is-in-no-hurry-to-leave-hibs-9ww06qbd0).

The teenager is well regarded north of the border and has been [recognised at various youth levels](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/josh-doig/nationalmannschaft/spieler/567129/verein_id/17622) by Scotland.

Now, Ross has told [Sky Sports](https://twitter.com/SkyFootball/status/1421852294639927302) that the full-back is ‘highly likely’ to leave Easter Road in the very near future.

The Scot also claimed there has been ‘strong interest’ from elsewhere – [perhaps from countryman David Moyes’](https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/sport/football/josh-doig-transfer-latest-west-21058011) and the Irons.

Doig played 90 minutes last week as Hibs overcame FC Santa Coloma [2-1](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-santa-coloma_hibernian-fc/index/spielbericht/3616613) in a UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier.

Last season the youngster [scored once and added four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/josh-doig/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/567129) in 24 Scottish Premiership outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing Doig would provide much needed additional [cover for Aaron Cresswell](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) within the West Ham squad.

At just 19 and having already [made a mark](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/josh-doig/leistungsdaten/spieler/567129/plus/0?saison=2020) at senior level, for the mooted £5million the Hammers could be landing themselves a bargain with superb long-term prospects.

Let’s hope the interest is from east London and Doig can be the next through the door [following Alphonse Areola](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58012306).
