# Virals: Journalist claims West Ham are ‘very close’ to Matheus Pereira deal

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/30/virals-west-ham-reportedly-very-close-to-martin-braithwaite-deal/) are believed to be ‘very close’ to signing West Brom winger [Matheus Pereira](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/30/virals-journalist-claims-west-ham-are-preparing-offer-for-matheus-pereira/) this summer.

The Hammers have been [perenially linked](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-brom-matheus-pereira-transfer-21198046) with the Brazilian during the transfer window and could now be edging towards winning the race.

Irons’ boss David Moyes could make Pereira the second signing of the window having [confirmed the arrival](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/july/29-july/west-ham-united-sign-world-cup-winning-goalkeeper-alphonse-areola) of goalkeeper Alphonse Areola on a season-long loan last week.

According to journalist Ekrem Konur on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Ekremkonur/status/1421834231085420545), West Ham are nearing a move for the £22million valued ace.

Pereira could be the alternative to what now seems an [unlikely swoop](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12040/12358532/jesse-lingard-part-of-man-utds-plans-for-new-season-says-ole-gunnar-solskjaer) for 2020/21 loan star Jesse Lingard.

Despite suffering relegation at West Brom last season, the 25-year-old scored [11 goals and registered six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matheus-pereira/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/225984) in 33 Premier League outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing Pereira would certainly bolster the attacking [options](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) at Moyes’ disposal at the London Stadium.

Capable of operating [across the frontline](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matheus-pereira/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/225984), the Brazilian ace would offer supreme versatility to the Hammers as well as an [abundance](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/297389/Show/Matheus-Pereira) of threatening attributes.

Valued at £13.5million and under contract until 2024 at the Hawthorns ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matheus-pereira/marktwertverlauf/spieler/225984)), the mooted £22million asking price would represent good value whilst also offering the Baggies a [near £13million profit](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53813044).
