# Virals: West Ham reportedly ‘very close’ to Martin Braithwaite deal

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/30/virals-west-ham-eye-multiple-central-defensive-transfer-options/) have reportedly taken a huge step towards striking a deal for Barcelona forward [Martin Braithwaite](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/19/virals-martin-braithwaite-seduced-by-west-ham-transfer-prospects/).

The Hammers are in the market for additional forward options to support Michail Antonio and the 30-year-old has been [touted as a possible candidate](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/west-ham-martin-braithwaite-transfer-21148764) for some time.

Coming off the back of an [impressive](https://www.sofascore.com/player/martin-braithwaite/66471) European Championship campaign, Braithwaite looks to be the chosen one at the London Stadium.

That’s according to a report from [Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/braithwaite-cerca-west-ham-11954496), as cited by [Football Transfers](https://twitter.com/Transferzone00/status/1421060415291674626) on Twitter, claiming the Irons have had a bid accepted for the Dane.

> Twitter: ![🚨](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.1.0/svg/1f6a8.svg) West Ham have had a £15M bid accepted by Barcelona for Martin Brathwaite ![🇩🇰](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.1.0/svg/1f1e9-1f1f0.svg). Only player’s agreement is missing.… https://t.co/qWWkZ8SHCG (@Transferzone00)

The report states that the [56-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/martin-braithwaite/nationalmannschaft/spieler/95732/verein_id/3436) star is ‘very close’ to completing a move to east London and that a deal is ‘practically done’.

Last season Braithwaite scored [seven times and registered four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/martin-braithwaite/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/95732) in 42 appearances for the Catalan club.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing the Danish frontman would certainly provide David Moyes with a ready-made option to help the cause and take pressure away from Antonio.

A vastly experienced operator with [goals in three different counties](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/martin-braithwaite/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/95732), there is no doubt Braithwaite would come good when called upon for the Hammers.

However, there is a feeling at 30 and at £15million, for slightly more the club could perhaps do [better business elsewhere](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/) with a longer-term prospect.
