# Virals: Journalist claims West Ham are preparing offer for Matheus Pereira

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/29/virals-nathan-holland-set-to-rejoin-oxford-united-on-season-long-loan/) are reportedly preparing to submit an offer worth €22million (£19million) for West Brom winger [Matheus Pereira](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/22/viras-club-insider-confirms-interest-in-west-brom-ace-matheus-pereira/).

The Hammers have been [credited with an interest](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/west-bromwich-albion/2021/07/22/west-brom-hoping-to-trigger-a-bidding-war-for-matheus-pereira/) in the Brazilian throughout the transfer window and could be set to make their first offer.

Irons boss David Moyes could make the 25-year-old the second summer signing following the [capture of goalkeeper Alphonse Areola](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/july/29-july/west-ham-united-sign-world-cup-winning-goalkeeper-alphonse-areola) from Paris Saint-Germain.

According to journalist Pedro Almeida on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/pedrogva6/status/1420816239115505666?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1420816239115505666%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hammers.news%2Ftransfer-news%2Fwest-ham-ready-to-make-19m-bid-for-matheus-pereira-according-to-journalist%2F), West Ham are on the verge of submitting a bid.

Despite suffering relegation with the Baggies, Pereira continued to impress in England by netting [11 goals and adding six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matheus-pereira/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/225984) in 33 Premier League outings last season.

The Belo Horizonte-born ace has been sensational since arriving in the Midlands [initially on loan from Sporting Lisbon](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matheus-pereira/transfers/spieler/225984) in 2019 – scoring [20 and registering another 26 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matheus-pereira/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/225984) in just 77 appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £13.5million and under contract until 2024 at the Hawthorns ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matheus-pereira/marktwertverlauf/spieler/225984)), signing the flamboyant forward for the mooted fee would be superb business.

Given the star’s [recent form](https://www.sofascore.com/player/matheus-pereira/377238) and rising stock, this is a deal that would surely delight all associated with the Hammers.

Whether this offer will be enough to get the deal done for a player only signed permanently last summer remains to be seen – although it would double West Brom’s reported £9million expenditure ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53813044)).
