# Virals: West Ham have ‘made an approach’ for Clement Lenglet

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/27/virals-west-ham-keeping-tabs-on-manchester-united-outcast-phil-jones/) have reportedly made an approach for Barcelona centre-back [Clement Lenglet](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/19/virals-west-ham-in-talks-over-move-for-barcelona-star-clement-lenglet/) this summer.

The Hammers hope to [complete a loan deal](https://www.football365.com/news/everton-west-ham-interested-in-loan-deal-for-20m-rated-barca-man) for the 26-year-old before a potential permanent switch at the end of the 2021/22 season.

[Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) rivals Chelsea, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are also credited to be keen on the Frenchman as well as Serie A giants AS Roma.

This comes from Spanish news outlet [Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/oferta-roma-mourinho-lenglet-11939137) and the interest has been cited by Hammers Updates on Twitter.

The report claims that the interest in the [13-cap star](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/clement-lenglet/nationalmannschaft/spieler/182904/verein_id/3377) from England is ‘great’ and that ‘everything is open’ for a departure from the Camp Nou.

Last season Lenglet made [48 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/clement-lenglet/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/182904) for the Catalan club and earned an average [Sofascore rating of 6.86](https://www.sofascore.com/player/clement-lenglet/580550) from 33 La Liga outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £22.5million and under contract until 2026 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/clement-lenglet/marktwertverlauf/spieler/182904)), Barca’s financial and registration troubles open up the possibility of landing a serious bargain.

Irons’ boss David Moyes has long since been [searching for a frontline central defender](https://talksport.com/football/760981/james-tarkowski-west-ham-third-final-bid-burnley-rejected/) to add to the ranks – a search intensified following Fabian Balbuena’s exit.

A [high-quality performer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/clement-lenglet/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/182904) at the elite level, West Ham should be happy to take away the Frenchman if Barca can’t pay.
