# Virals: West Ham want to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on loan

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/25/noel-whelan-believes-west-ham-may-have-to-cash-in-on-declan-rice/) are believed to be interested in signing Liverpool midfielder [Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/04/journalist-david-hughes-tips-west-ham-for-alex-oxlade-chamberlain-deal/) on loan this summer.

The 27-year-old is under consideration at the London Stadium as David Moyes attempts to strengthen the squad options and fill the [void left behind](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jesse-lingard/205508) by Jesse Lingard’s loan efforts.

Currently away as part of Jurgen Klopp’s pre-season squad in Austria, the former Arsenal man has been [utilised as a false nine](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9814191/Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlains-throw-Liverpool-dice.html) in the absence of Roberto Firmino during recent friendlies.

According to reliable club insider ExWHUemployee on [The West Ham Way](https://www.patreon.com/posts/transfer-update-54058778?utm_medium=post_notification_email&utm_source=post_link&utm_campaign=patron_engagement&token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJyZWRpc19rZXkiOiJpbnN0YW50LWFjY2VzczpiNGU3MTg5OC04MjgyLTQ2NGItODQ2ZS1lMzNmNjcyZDk5ZTIifQ.R8p-BJpliNn15MF4LLqvSUTeSDcgz1ZNEuu5rt_aod8) podcast, as cited by [Liverpool Word](https://twitter.com/LiverpoolWord/status/1418943214590074902) on Twitter, the Hammers could turn to Oxlade-Chamberlian as an attacking alternative.

Capped on [35 occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/nationalmannschaft/spieler/143424/verein_id/3299) by England at senior level, the former Arsenal ace was highly regarded as one of the nation’s brightest talents.

However, rotten luck with [injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/verletzungen/spieler/143424) since arriving on Merseyside has meant that the versatile midfielder’s career has somewhat stalled.

Despite remaining fit for the second half of last season, Oxlade-Chamberlain only managed [17 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/143424) across all competitions for Liverpool.

Signing a well rounded forward option to bolster the [squad](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) in east London is a necessity as the Irons prepare for Europa League action.

Once [described](https://twitter.com/btsportfootball/status/1187127207782686720?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1187127207782686720%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fmetro.co.uk%2F2019%2F10%2F24%2Frio-ferdinand-heaps-praise-liverpool-star-alex-oxlade-chamberlain-10973480%2F) by Rio Ferdinand as a player who ‘offers something totally different’, Oxlade-Chamberlain is capable of playing centrally and in wide positions, leaving little doubt the Englishman [possesses the attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/84146/Show/Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain) and ability to produce for Moyes.

Whilst injuries and [battles with fitness](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9031119/Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain-hands-Liverpool-timely-fitness-boost-returning-training.html) have to be of concern, landing the ace on a loan with an option to buy would present little to no risk.

Valued at £16.2million and under contract at Anfield until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/marktwertverlauf/spieler/143424)), should a temporary switch happen and be successful, West Ham could land a top-quality player at a decent price next summer.
