# Virals: West Ham ‘overtake’ competition for Jens Stryger Larsen

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/26/virals-west-ham-given-another-chance-to-sign-robin-olsen-this-summer/) have reportedly made a move for Udinese defender [Jens Stryger Larsen](https://readinternationalfootball.com/2018/06/07/denmarks-23-man-world-cup-squad-confirmed/).

The 30-year-old had been expected to complete a [move to Turkish giants Galatasary](https://footballghana.com/galatasaray-to-pip-watford-to-signing-of-jens-stryger-larsen) but that switch could now be off the cards.

Stryger Larsen [impressed for Denmark](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jens-stryger-larsen/44848) during the recent European Championships and could be the man to strengthen David Moyes’ squad at the London Stadium.

This is according to a report from Italian newspaper [Corriere dello Sport](https://corrieredellosport.it/), as cited by [Sport Witness](https://twitter.com/Sport_Witness/status/1419600713676623872) on Twitter.

The report claims that the Irons could ‘overtake’ all potential suitors to land the [42 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jens-stryger-larsen/nationalmannschaft/spieler/69646/verein_id/3436) ace.

Stryger Larsen made 33 appearances for Udinese in Serie A last season earning an [average Sofascore rating of 6.63](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jens-stryger-larsen/44848) in the process.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £3.6million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jens-stryger-larsen/marktwertverlauf/spieler/69646)), the versatile Danish defender has entered the final 12 months of a deal in Italy and could be available at a bargain fee.

Predominantly a right-back, Styger Larsen is also capable of [playing in numerous defensive positions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jens-stryger-larsen/leistungsdaten/spieler/69646) and could therefore likely act as backup for both Vladimir Coufal and Aaron Cresswell.

A vastly experienced operator with [368 senior domestic appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jens-stryger-larsen/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/69646), the Dane would be a worthwhile acquisition in east London.
