# Virals: West Ham given ‘another chance’ to sign Robin Olsen this summer

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/26/virals-west-ham-want-to-sign-alex-oxlade-chamberlain-on-loan/) are reportedly back in contention to sign AS Roma goalkeeper [Robin Olsen](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/01/virals-west-ham-ask-for-information-on-as-roma-goalkeeper-robin-olsen/) this summer.

The Swedish stopper was on the Hammers radar earlier in the window before edging towards a move to [French Ligue 1 champions](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/may/23/european-roundup-lille-win-at-angers-to-seal-first-ligue-1-title-in-10-years) Lille.

However, that switch looks to be off the cards and the Irons could [swoop once again](https://www.football365.com/news/west-ham-interested-in-monster-euro-2020-olsen) for the 31-year-old.

That’s according to a report from [Il Romanista](https://www.ilromanista.eu/news/calciomercato/105471/roma-per-xhaka-a-tutto-fermo), as cited by [RumorsTransfersNews24/7](https://twitter.com/rumorstransfers)on Twitter.

Olsen made [11 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robin-olsen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/75458) on loan at Everton under Carlo Ancelotti last season – earning an average [6.87 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/robin-olsen/26025) from seven Premier League outings.

Capped [48 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robin-olsen/nationalmannschaft/spieler/75458/verein_id/3557) at senior level by Sweden, the experienced ‘keeper has also added [267 domestic career appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robin-olsen/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/75458) across spells with six clubs.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing a goalkeeper has seemingly never been so taxing.

Irons’ boss David Moyes is determined to find quality cover and competition for Lukasz Fabianski this summer as the Pole enters the [last 12 months of his contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lukasz-fabianski/profil/spieler/29692) at the London Stadium.

Linked with [Alphonse Areola and Sam Johnstone](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12356540/sam-johnstone-west-ham-have-6m-bid-for-goalkeeper-rejected-by-west-brom-as-psgs-alphonse-areola-remains-top-target) as well as Olsen once again, West Ham are relatively spoilt for choice it would seem.
