# Dean Windass insists Danny Ings is ‘nailed on’ to join West Ham

Former Premier League striker Dean Windass is convinced Southampton ace [Danny Ings](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/13/noel-whelan-tips-west-ham-to-win-danny-ings-transfer-race/) will arrive at [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/26/virals-west-ham-on-the-spot-for-anthony-martial-transfer/) this summer.

This comes after speculation regarding the 29-year-old’s future was ramped up recently following the [rejection of a new contract](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12349098/danny-ings-turns-down-four-year-southampton-contract-offer-with-12-months-remaining-on-current-deal) on the South Coast.

The situation has [alerted a host of potential suitors](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/danny-ings-decides-next-move-villa-west-ham-tottenham-transfer-interest#:~:text=Danny%20Ings%20has%20firm%20interest,12%20months%20left%20to%20run.) to the possibility of a transfer during the ongoing window.

Speaking to [This Is Futbol](https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/07/blogs/premier-league/west-ham/exclusive-dean-windass-thinks-west-ham-are-nailed-on-to-sign-saints-danny-ings-e181/), Windass insisted Ings would be best served moving to the London Stadium.

> I don’t think he will go to Tottenham, but I think he’s nailed on for West Ham. Antonio is still there, but you’ve got to have cover. I think that David Moyes knows that he won’t want to wait another year, he’s got European football now, so I think that Danny Ings would be a great fit for West Ham.

Irons boss David Moyes will be hoping to solve a major problem in the shape of Michail Antonio’s [injury problems](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michail-antonio/verletzungen/spieler/104124).

Last season Ings netted [12 goals and added four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/134294) in 29 Premier League outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Given the [additional workload of Europa League](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/may/23-may/west-ham-united-qualify-uefa-europa-league-final-day-win-over#:~:text=Match%20Report-,West%20Ham%20United%20qualify%20for%20UEFA%20Europa,final%2Dday%20win%20over%20Southampton&text=A%20first%2Dhalf%20brace%20from,for%20the%20UEFA%20Europa%20League.) football, expecting Antonio to stand alone in the striking department is simply unrealistic.

Signing the [three-times capped England man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/nationalmannschaft/spieler/134294/verein_id/3299) would perhaps in most Hammers’ eyes be the ideal solution given the ace’s [impressive](https://www.premierleague.com/players/8245/Danny-Ings/overview) top-flight goalscoring record.

Valued at £19.8million and in the final 12 months of a deal at St Mary’s ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/nationalmannschaft/spieler/134294/verein_id/3299)), if Windass is proved correct it could even be a relative bargain fee.
