# Viras: Club insider confirms ‘interest’ in West Brom ace Matheus Pereira

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/22/virals-west-ham-could-move-for-liverpool-defender-nat-phillips/) have reportedly approached West Brom with an enquiry regarding Brazilian forward [Matheus Pereira](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/21/virals-west-ham-interested-in-west-brom-winger-matheus-pereira/).

The Hammers are reportedly keen on the 25-year-old as David Moyes [goes in search](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/) of attacking reinforcements this summer.

Viewed as a potential alternative to the capture of Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard, the [Express & Star](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/west-bromwich-albion/2021/07/22/west-brom-hoping-to-trigger-a-bidding-war-for-matheus-pereira/) has claimed the recently relegated Baggies will demand £30million for Pereira.

Now, reliable West Ham insider [ExWHUemployee](https://twitter.com/ExWHUemployee/status/1418102033375272961?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1418102033375272961%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.westhamzone.com%2Fcore%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost-new.php) has delivered an update on Twitter.

Despite falling foul to relegation, Pereira netted [11 goals and added another six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matheus-pereira/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/225984) in 33 Premier League appearances last season.

Described by Micah Richards as an ‘absolute delight to watch’ on [Match of the Day](https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007t9y1) during the 2020/21 campaign, the Brazilian has directly contributed to [46 goals in just 77 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matheus-pereira/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/225984) in England.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £13.5million and under contract at the Hawthorns until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matheus-pereira/marktwertverlauf/spieler/225984)), despite competition from elsewhere the Irons will surely be confident of doing a deal for less than the mooted fee.

Capable of playing [across a number of advanced positions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matheus-pereira/leistungsdaten/spieler/225984), Pereira would offer important versatility to Moyes’ squad and may endear the Scot to the signing.

As the Hammers are relatively well-stocked in wide areas, the Brazilian ace [can also play as a central striker](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/297389/Show/Matheus-Pereira) as well as a number 10 – similarly to Lingard.

At the right price, this is a deal that has plenty of merit for West Ham and could sufficiently strengthen the [squad](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad).
