# Dean Jones claims West Ham target Tammy Abraham ‘wants to leave’ Chelsea

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/20/virals-ex-confirms-west-ham-are-considering-divock-origi-as-striker-alternative/) have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Chelsea striker [Tammy Abraham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/15/alan-hutton-believes-tammy-abraham-would-be-a-fantastic-signing/).

The Hammers are well and truly in the market for a frontman to replace Sebastien Haller this summer and the 23-year-old has been [tipped](https://talksport.com/football/873149/chelsea-tammy-abraham-tipped-west-ham-sinclair-declan-rice/) as a likely candidate.

Despite Irons’ boss David Moyes all but [ruling out a £40million move](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/moyes-reacts-to-talk-of-40m-abraham-raid-as-chelsea-striker-sees-/1c13ll2qjpooo19jbu27rzlvlp) for the ace, speculation continues as the west London club actively pursue a sensational swoop for Erling Haaland.

Now, transfer expert Dean Jones has shed more light on the situation whilst appearing on [The Football Terrace](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpavaJh9wr4) (23.44), as cited by [Football Transfers](https://twitter.com/Transferzone00/status/1417415600008097800) on Twitter.

Jones said: “Tammy wants to leave, he wants to join West Ham. West Ham can’t at the moment afford £40million to sign him. The player would prefer to stay in London and West Ham are a pretty good fit.”

Abraham scored [12 goals in all competitions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/331726) last season before falling out of favour with new manager Thomas Tuchel.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £34.2million and under contract until 2023 at Stamford Bridge ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/marktwertverlauf/spieler/331726)), signing the Englishman even at the previously mooted £40million mark would be good business from the Hammers.

Capped [six times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/nationalmannschaft/spieler/331726/verein_id/3299) by England, the 6’4 striker [possesses all the attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317506/Show/Tammy-Abraham) necessary to fit into David Moyes’ side and has already proven to be a Premier League level goalscorer.

At just 23 there is still time for Abraham to [develop further](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1433978/Chelsea-transfer-news-West-Ham-Tammy-Abraham-Leicester-Newcastle-Aston-Villa) and a move to West Ham would give the Londoner ample opportunities to do so.
