# Carlton Cole believes West Ham star Declan Rice is worth £100million

Former [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/20/virals-ex-confirms-west-ham-are-considering-divock-origi-as-striker-alternative/) striker Carlton Cole has claimed [Declan Rice](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/14/virals-chelsea-to-test-resolve-of-west-ham-this-summer-over-declan-rice/) is worth £100million following an impressive European Championship campaign.

The 22-year-old midfielder is once again in the centre of transfer speculation after the star reportedly [rejected two new contract offers](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jul/01/declan-rice-rejects-west-ham-contract-offers-chelsea-manchester-united-city-champions-league) at the London Stadium.

Wanted by Chelsea, Liverpool and both Manchester clubs, David Moyes and a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2708546/2021/07/18/chelsea-transfers-haaland-and-rice-deals-stalling-but-can-ings-and-tchouameni-satisfy-fans/) have both [previously intimated](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/03/07/declan-rice-worth-far-100m-says-david-moyes/) it would take bids of at least £100million to land Rice.

Speaking as a pundit on [TalkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/914140/declan-rice-chelsea-man-united-transfer-rumours-salary-age/), Cole backed up that viewpoint, particularly after the Euros.

> Every time he kicked a ball in the Euros, I was like: ‘His price has gone up!’. He’s becoming more and more desirable and for me, he’s a top, top player – we all know that at West Ham. He’s proved himself there and been under the mentorship of a great West Ham legend in Mark Noble. He \[Noble\] hasn’t had any caps for England but been a great model pro. Rice has been working under his tutelage and learning the ropes in how to be a leader on the pitch. He’s got the qualities of a centre-midfielder, but he can play as a centre-back as well. All it is with Declan is that he needs games at the highest level.

Asked whether the [24 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/nationalmannschaft/spieler/357662/verein_id/3299) ace was worth £50million, the 37-year-old said: “I’m going double that.”

Last season Rice [played every minute in the Premier League](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/357662/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/379) prior to a knee injury that ruled him out for six matches.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £67million and under contract at the London Stadium until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/marktwertverlauf/spieler/357662)), there can be little doubt the midfielder is worth the mooted fees to West Ham.

Often the captain on the field, the youngster has become a driving force in the side and [played a huge role](https://www.sofascore.com/player/declan-rice/856714) in guiding the Irons to Europa League football.

Ultimately keeping hold of Rice could prove a difficult task in the long run, but when the time does come the hierarchy [must stand firm](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/declan-rice-west-ham-transfer-20944818) on their valuation.
