# Virals: Premier League trio interested in West Ham defender Issa Diop

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/16/virals-west-ham-monitoring-liverpool-striker-divock-origi/) defender [Issa Diop](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/22/virals-ac-milan-trying-to-sign-west-ham-defender-issa-diop/) is attracting plenty of Premier League interest this summer.

Previously a [target](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1391466/Liverpool-transfer-news-Issa-Diop-West-Ham-Jurgen-Klopp) for Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool, the Frenchman is now reportedly on the radar of Wolves, Crystal Palace and Southampton.

The 24-year-old arrived in east London from French side Toulouse in 2018 for a club record £22million fee ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44522330)).

Now a host of rivals are looking to prize the centre-back away according to a report from [*Foot Mercato*](https://www.footmercato.net/a8751205607338133206-la-premier-league-sactive-pour-issa-diop), as cited by [Ekrem Konur](https://twitter.com/Ekremkonur/status/1416017808635351041) on Twitter.

The report claims ‘some’ of the clubs linked have made loan offers with an option to buy for the [French Under 21 ace](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/issa-diop/nationalmannschaft/spieler/272622/verein_id/9323) ‘without success’.

Since becoming a Hammer, Diop has made [95 outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/issa-diop/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/272622) for the club including 83 league appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £16.2million and under contract until 2023 at the London Stadium ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/issa-diop/marktwertverlauf/spieler/272622)), West Ham are heading towards a tipping point regarding the Frenchman.

Irons’ boss David Moyes is clearly looking to [replenish the defensive department](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/west-ham-transfer-window-state-19031647) in east London and further competition could see Diop fall down the pecking order.

Already seemingly behind [Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/west-ham-v-burnley-reaction-19637639) last season, the Hammers could be tempted to cash in were worthwhile offers be forthcoming.

As an alternative to selling the likes of [Declan Rice](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/declan-rice-transfer-contract-news-24542414) and Tomas Soucek whilst raising transfer funds, Diop could be a candidate to leave.

Whether or not Moyes would be willing to sell to a [league rival](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) is another question.
