# Virals: West Ham goalkeeper Nathan Trott set to join Nancy on loan

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/15/alan-hutton-believes-tammy-abraham-would-be-a-fantastic-signing/) goalkeeper Nathan Trott is believed to be on the brink of joining French Ligue 2 side Nancy on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old will look to develop further under the stewardship of [former Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel](https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2021/official-nancy-appoint-daniel-stendel-as-new-manager/) having spent last year back at the London Stadium.

Irons boss David Moyes is currently [attempting to add competition](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57791313) in the ‘keeper department with both [Sam Johnstone](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/15/virals-west-ham-have-bid-rejected-for-west-brom-goalkeeper-sam-johnstone/) and Alphonse Areola heavily linked.

According to a report from the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9790583/West-Hams-Nathan-Trott-set-join-Nancy-season-long-loan.html), as cited by [West Ham News & Views](https://twitter.com/WestHamViews_/status/1415597852479340547) on Twitter,

The report bills the [England youth international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-trott/nationalmannschaft/spieler/431422/verein_id/9565) as ‘one of the most promising emerging English stoppers’.

Last season Trott made one first-team appearance in the [4-0 FA Cup fourth-round victory](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-trott/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/431422/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/FAC/verein/379) against Doncaster.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £225,000 and under contract until 2022 at the London Stadium ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-trott/marktwertverlauf/spieler/431422)), the Hammers will no doubt keep an eye on the Englishman’s progress in France and potentially offer a new contract.

Trott’s departure leaves West Ham with Lukasz Fabianski, Darren Randolph and David Martin as [senior goalkeepers](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) – potentially adding either Johnstone or Areola in the coming days.

Moyes will no doubt have a headache when it comes to choosing a number one on the [opening day of the season](https://www.whufc.com/2021-22) against Newcastle United.
