# Virals: West Ham ‘in pole position’ to sign Tammy Abraham

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/12/virals-angelo-ogbonna-recognises-west-ham-anniversary-on-twitter/) have reportedly moved into the front row to sign Chelsea striker [Tammy Abraham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/27/virals-aston-villa-prepare-bid-for-west-ham-target-tammy-abraham/) this summer.

The 23-year-old has [fallen down the pecking order](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/331726/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/631) at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel and could seek regular first-team football.

Despite Irons boss, David Moyes [previously claiming](https://metro.co.uk/2021/05/03/west-ham-boss-david-moyes-speaks-out-on-chelseas-40m-price-tag-for-tammy-abraham-14510430/) the £40million asking price would be beyond them, the speculation continues.

According to a report from [Football Insider](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/fwd/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZm9vdGJhbGxpbnNpZGVyMjQ3LmNvbS9zb3VyY2VzLXdlc3QtaGFtLWluLXBvbGUtcG9zaXRpb24tdG8tc2lnbi1hYnJhaGFtLWFzLW5ldy1hc2tpbmctcHJpY2UtcmV2ZWFsZWQv/?fwd=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.footballinsider247.com%2Fsources-west-ham-in-pole-position-to-sign-abraham-as-new-asking-price-revealed%2F&sport=1&spName=Football&spArticle=x_West_Ham_%27move%20ahead%20of%20Vi), as cited by [West Ham News](https://twitter.com/_WEST_HAM_NEWS_/status/1414254754721669123) on Twitter, the Hammers have in fact moved to the head of the queue.

The report claims the east London club lead the way ahead of [Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) rivals Aston Villa to the signing of Abraham.

Capped [six times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/nationalmannschaft/spieler/331726/verein_id/3299) by England, the towering frontman was left out of the squad for Euro 2020 despite netting [12 goals last season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/331726) due to a lack of game time.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing Abraham would truly be the ideal striking solution for the Hammers.

Adept both [aerially and running in behind](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317506/Show/Tammy-Abraham) defences, the Englishman would offer Moyes the perfect blend of Sebastien Haller and Michail Antonio.

Albeit a former loanee at Villa Park, the Midlands club are relatively well-stocked upfront with [Ollie Watkins unlikely to budge](https://www.premierleague.com/players/8658/Ollie-Watkins/overview) anytime soon.

Valued at £34.2million and under contract until 2023 in west London ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/marktwertverlauf/spieler/331726)), the previously mooted £40million asking price is surprisingly reasonable.
