# Virals: West Ham reportedly ‘show interest’ in contract rebel Danny Ings

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/07/virals-west-ham-seriously-considering-move-for-roman-yaremchuk/) have reportedly ‘shown an interest’ in Southampton and England striker [Danny Ings](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/13/jason-cundy-hails-danny-ings-as-a-perfect-move-for-west-ham/).

This comes after the 28-year-old recently [rejected the offer of a new deal](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11700/12349098/danny-ings-turns-down-four-year-southampton-contract-offer-with-12-months-remaining-on-current-deal) on the south coast with a view to potentially seeking a new challenge.

The Hammers have been named as a potential suitor for the [ex-Liverpool and Burnley star](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/134294), along with Aston Villa and Tottenham also holding an admiration.

According to a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2691146/2021/07/06/what-next-for-danny-ings-and-southampton/), as cited by [SaintsExtra](https://twitter.com/SaintsExtra/status/1412677050910007299) on Twitter, the Irons have Ings firmly on their radar.

The report claims a new deal has been on the table for 14 months as the [three-times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/nationalmannschaft/spieler/134294/verein_id/3299) England man enters the [final year](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/profil/spieler/134294) of his current contract.

Last season, Ings netted [12 Premier League goals and another four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/134294) in just 29 outings, earning a [6.97 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/danny-ings/130181) in the process.

[Described](https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/19000362.long-praises-brilliant-ings-adams-admits-selfishly-want-game-time/) as ‘brilliant’ by Saints teammate Shane Long, the Winchester-born ace has [55 top-flight career goals](https://www.premierleague.com/players/8245/Danny-Ings/overview) in 140 appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Without a [new deal signed](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9756583/Danny-Ings-turns-lucrative-new-Southampton-striker-looks-secure-six-side.html), this summer presents Southampton with the final opportunity to obtain a reasonable fee for their asset.

Valued at £19.8million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/marktwertverlauf/spieler/134294)), any fee in that region would represent smart business for all parties.

Given the [progression made under David Moyes](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/march/07-march/david-moyes-transformation-year-ago-now-great) last term, and with a Europa League campaign on the horizon, Ings may be tempted to head to east London.
