# Virals: West Ham ‘make contact’ over Haris Seferovic transfer

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/05/virals-fabrizio-romano-updates-felipe-anderson-to-lazio-situation/) have reportedly been ‘in touch’ for the signing of Benfica star [Haris Seferovic](https://readwestham.com/2018/07/06/west-ham-reportedly-keen-to-sign-haris-seferovic/) this summer.

This comes as Irons’ boss David Moyes continues the search for a striker to compete with Michail Antonio after [Sebastien Haller left the club](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/january/08-january/sebastien-haller-joins-ajax) last January.

Seferovic, fresh off the back of an [incredible European Championships](https://www.sofascore.com/player/haris-seferovic/50899) with Switzerland, is believed to be among the options considered at the London Stadium, while Everton and Tottenham also line up the 29-year-old.

This is according to a report from Portuguese newspaper [O Jogo](https://ojogo.pt/), as cited by [Hammers Updates](https://twitter.com/Hammers_Update/status/1412052261665132549) on Twitter, claiming contact has already been initiated.

The report also states Benfica would demand around €25million (£21.4million) for the [79-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/haris-seferovic/nationalmannschaft/spieler/109256/verein_id/3384) Swiss star.

Seferovic netted [three times](https://www.sofascore.com/player/haris-seferovic/50899) at Euro 2020, following on from [22 Primeira Liga goals and seven assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/haris-seferovic/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/109256/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/PO1/verein/294) in just 31 league outings last season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Despite holding a market value of just £12.6million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/haris-seferovic/marktwertverlauf/spieler/109256)), the powerful striker has proven there is plenty left to offer at the elite level.

Standing at 6’1 the Swiss ace is unsurprisingly [an aerial force](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/74016/Show/Haris-Seferovic) whilst also possessing strong finishing ability.

Somewhat in the mould of Haller, were the Irons to win the race for Seferovic there would perhaps still be room for a younger frontman to arrive in the [squad](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad).

Overall, shelling out over £20million for a 29-year-old may not be the wisest move on paper, however, the [experienced frontman](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/haris-seferovic/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/109256) would almost guarantee an instant impact in east London.
