# Virals: West Ham ace Vladimir Coufal ‘disappointed’ over contract talk

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/02/don-hutchinson-urges-west-ham-to-consider-breel-embolo-move/) full-back [Vladimir Coufal](https://readwestham.com/2021/05/26/virals-west-ham-reportedly-open-new-contract-talks-with-vladimir-coufal/) has reportedly been left ‘disappointed’ by the club’s attempts to negotiate a new contract.

The Czech Republic international is currently preparing to face Denmark in the [quarter-final stages of Euro 2020](https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/fixtures-results/#/rd/2001026)having lost to Declan Rice and England in the group.

Despite only signing last summer, the 28-year-old’s [impressive campaign](https://www.sofascore.com/player/vladimir-coufal/138024) has led to the Hammers attempting to reward the ace with new terms.

However, according to a report from [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/transfer-centre), as cited by [West Ham Central](https://twitter.com/WestHam_Central/status/1410926868933615623) on Twitter, the opening negotiations haven’t proved successful.

Signed from Slavia Prague for £5million ([The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/oct/02/west-ham-sign-vladimir-coufal-from-slavia-prague-5m-transfer-news)), Coufal has two years remaining on a current deal at the London Stadium.

During 2020/21, the [20-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vladimir-coufal/nationalmannschaft/spieler/157672/verein_id/3445) star registered [seven assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vladimir-coufal/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/157672) in 34 Premier League outings – earning an average [Sofascore rating of 7.01](https://www.sofascore.com/player/vladimir-coufal/138024) in the process.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

First Declan Rice and now Coufal, it certainly seems that whilst the club are attempting to tie down [key players](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad), things aren’t going according to plan.

Given the impact made on debut season and the [upcoming Europa League campaign](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/may/25-may/what-does-finishing-sixth-mean-west-ham-united-guide-202122-uefa), the Czech star has certainly warranted a new and improved deal, as has compatriot Tomas Soucek.

The hierarchy should be guarded against rocking the boat ahead of such an important season.
