# Virals: Manchester United could be ‘forced to sell’ Jesse Lingard

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/02/don-hutchinson-urges-west-ham-to-consider-breel-embolo-move/) could be about to benefit from transfers elsewhere as Manchester United become active in the summer market.

Having already [agreed on the capture of Jadon Sancho](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jun/30/jadon-sancho-set-to-join-manchester-united-after-78m-deal-agreed) from Borussia Dortmund, the Old Trafford club have now [reportedly](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/raphael-varane-manchester-united-transfer-20948249) turned their attentions to Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane.

However, such deals could come at a cost to the [squad](https://www.manutd.com/en/players-and-staff/first-team) in situ and in turn allow the Hammers to swoop for loan sensation [Jesse Lingard](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/27/virals-west-ham-target-jesse-lingard-set-to-be-offered-new-contract/).

That’s according to a report from the [Daily Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/man-utd-forced-jesse-lingard-24438973), as cited by [Alan Rzepa](https://twitter.com/alanrzepa/status/1410613249821708288) on Twitter, claiming there will need to be outgoings soon from Manchester and the attacking midfielder could be in the firing line.

Previous [reports](https://www.90min.com/posts/manchester-united-set-asking-jesse-lingard-asking-price) have claimed Manchester United will demand a fee in the region of £30million for the England international Rio Ferdinand [dubbed](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/ferdinand-jesse-lingard-manchester-united-20236422) as ‘amazing’ whilst in east London.

Capped [29 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/nationalmannschaft/spieler/141660/verein_id/3299) at senior level, Lingard was reborn at the London Stadium and finished a short loan spell with [nine goals and five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/141660) in 16 Premier League outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £19.8million and with 12 months remaining on a deal in east London ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/marktwertverlauf/spieler/141660)), the £30million mooted fee is far from unreasonable if a little excessive given the likely squad role.

That said, given the [impact](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11096/12273193/jesse-lingard-in-scintillating-form-at-west-ham-after-loan-from-man-utd#:~:text=In%20addition%20to%20producing%20a,15%20unblocked%20shots%20or%20more.) the star had on the West Ham side, David Moyes would no doubt jump at any opportunity to add the Englishman to the ranks once again.
