# Virals: West Ham ‘ask for information’ on AS Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/07/01/virals-declan-rice-reportedly-turns-down-two-west-ham-contract-offers/) are believed to have enquired over the availability of AS Roma goalkeeper [Robin Olsen](https://readwestham.com/2019/07/15/west-ham-linked-with-robin-olsen/) this summer.

Having spent last season on loan at [Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) rivals Everton, the Swedish international faces an uncertain future in Italy.

Hammers’ boss David Moyes [looks to be in the market](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/west-ham-suffer-fresh-setback-in-transfer-pursuit-of-29-year-old/) for a new stopper in order to provide genuine competition at the London Stadium.

According to Italian journalist [Gianluigi Longari](https://twitter.com/Glongari/status/1410299657352327169) on Twitter,

> Twitter: #Roma interesse per il portiere #Olsen dopo l’ottimo Europeo disputato con la maglia della #Svezia. Tra le squadre… https://t.co/QE0dpPsnL4 (@Glongari)

Translated, the [SportItalia](https://sportitalia.com/) reporter has claimed: “There is interest in the Roma goalkeeper Olsen after his excellent European Championship with Sweden. Among the most active teams are West Ham, Lille and Real Sociedad.”

Those excellent displays during Euro 2020 materialised into a 7.06 rating from four outings ([Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/robin-olsen/26025)).

The 31-year-old made [seven Premier League appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robin-olsen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/75458) last term, earning an average [Sofascore rating of 6.87](https://www.sofascore.com/player/robin-olsen/26025) in the process.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Dubbed a ‘monster’ by reputable Spanish newspaper Marca (via [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jun/28/robin-olsen-from-roma-reject-to-swedens-giant-at-euro-2020)), Olsen has certainly been a [consistent performer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robin-olsen/leistungsdaten/spieler/75458) at the top level for some time.

Whether or not the Irons necessarily [need another goalkeeper](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) is a different question altogether.

With Lukasz Fabianski still capable at the elite level and Darren Randolph proving to be a [worthy deputy](https://www.sofascore.com/player/darren-randolph/13060) on numerous occasions, perhaps the money would be best spent elsewhere.
