# Virals: West Ham ‘in talks’ over Paul Onuachu transfer

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/29/virals-west-ham-named-among-clubs-interested-in-martin-satriano/) could be set to solve a striker dilemma after reports claimed that the agent of Genk striker [Paul Onuachu](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/24/virals-west-ham-in-straight-battle-for-paul-onuachu/) is in London.

The Hammers have only recently been [linked](https://www.owngoalnigeria.com/2021/06/23/paul-onuachu-prime-to-complete-26m-transfer-to-english-premier-league-side/) with the 27-year-old but it seems as though the move could be becoming a real possibility.

Previously [touted](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/genk-striker-paul-onuachu-wants-arsenal-transfer) with a move to Arsenal, the main competition seems to be coming from Brighton this time as the Irons look to wrap up a deal.

This is according to a report from [Own Goal Nigeria](https://www.owngoalnigeria.com/2021/06/29/paul-onuachus-agent-arrives-england-ahead-of-26m-move-from-genk/), as cited by [West Ham Central](https://twitter.com/WestHam_Central/status/1409883391630135300) on Twitter, claiming a transfer worth around £22million could be imminent.

Onuachu has been a [prolific goalscorer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/272855) throughout an impressive career in Denmark prior to a [£5.4million switch](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/transfers/spieler/272855) to Belgium in 2019.

Since landing in the Jupiler Pro League, the [10-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/nationalmannschaft/spieler/272855/verein_id/3444) ace has gone from strength to strength and netted an astonishing [35 goals whilst adding another five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/leistungsdaten/spieler/272855) in 41 appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £18million and under contract until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/marktwertverlauf/spieler/272855)), the mooted valuation would represent a shrewd deal for the Hammers.

Standing at 6’6, the Nigerian is unsurprisingly noted with [impressive aerial strength](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/122182/Show/Paul-Onuachu) as well as finishing ability – two key attributes for a frontman.

Providing competition and a [reliable backup for Michail Antonio](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/david-moyes-west-ham-striker-20213339) has been a priority at the London Stadium this summer, Onuachu could fit the bill.
